Small cars with big, powerful engines tend to be a recipe for success in the automotive world. AC Cobra has demonstrated this fact since his early 60's debut. And while there has never been a shortage of thoroughly impressive and capable AC Cobra variants that have been in production for the past 60 or so years, the company is now ready to launch the next generation of AC-equipped We are poised to unveil an iconic car soon. Benefiting from state-of-the-art development and manufacturing techniques, the next generation Cobra has been carefully designed over three years. Touted by AC Cars as "the most advanced Cobra ever conceived," the upcoming Cobra sports traditional iconic bodywork that deviates little from his original 1960s design. However, the body panels are now made from carbon fiber and lightweight aluminum. Beneath the bodywork is an extruded aluminum spaceframe chassis designed from the ground up specifically for the new Cobra GT roadster by Italian firms Icona Design Group and Cecomp Spa. The cabin inside features a neo-retro setup that combines vintage-inspired looks with the latest technology and advanced materials such as carbon fiber for the seats.
Like its predecessor, the next-generation Cobra GT was designed with performance in mind. Under the hood is his supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, mated to a 6-speed manual or his 10-speed automatic transmission, producing 654 horsepower and he 582.7 ft-lbs of torque. Coupled with a curb weight of 3,086 pounds, the Ford-sourced motor allows for a 0-60mph time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of around 175mph. With premium suspension and a 101-inch wheelbase, the Cobra GT Roadster boasts undeniably sharp handling. Sold with an optional removable hardtop, the limited-run roadster is designed to serve both touring and everyday driving and features a state-of-the-art in-vehicle entertainment system, electric windows and air conditioning. Each example can also be custom configured by the customer, choosing from dozens of bespoke options.
Pricing, availability and a full spec sheet are all yet to be revealed, but the company has confirmed that the 2024 AC Cars Cobra GT Roadster will be unveiled in Spring 2023.
