An Alaskan couple witnessed a “one-in-a-million event” from a Ring doorbell camera.

The currently viral clip shows a moose walking and perching in full view of the camera. It paused for a moment and rocked like a dog trying to shake off water.

The moose’s horns immediately popped out of its head, and the moose seemed surprised at the loss of its horns and quickly ran away.

Tyra Bogert posted the video on both Facebook and TikTok, and as of Friday morning it has amassed a total of 335,400 views.

Boger’s brother-in-law also posted the video on his TikTok, garnering 18.6 million views and 2.6 million likes.

I saw that Bogert was staying at his sister’s house when he got a notification from the Ring camera about a movement in the front door. She quickly opened it and witnessed a moose drop its horns in real time.

Her husband Chance immediately called and asked who was at the door.

“I was like, ‘Dude, you gotta see it for yourself! You’re going to be so amazed. I don’t want to ruin it,'” Bogart told TODAY.com.

She posted a follow-up video showing her husband trying to get antlers (about 50 inches in diameter) on camera.

The couple said they were going to attach the corner to one of the walls.

According to the Yukon Wildlife Refuge, moose shed antlers that are not attached to the skull after mating season.

Chris Handertmark, a wildlife ecologist at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, told National Geographic that only male moose have antlers, and that antlers growth is regulated by testosterone.

Deer antlers begin to grow each spring, usually around April, in the nourishing skin of elk skin called velvet.

Around September, male elk’s testosterone spikes and the velvet sheds as the deer’s antlers harden.

Vince Crichton, a retired wildlife biologist and elk expert, told National Geographic:

Removing antlers can help moose lose up to 60 pounds and store more energy for the winter, according to Lee Cantor, a moose biologist with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. can do.

The animal seemed startled by the lack of horns and quickly ran away.

Bogart said today that many people didn’t know that moose shed their antlers.

“They were like, ‘Oh my God, I didn’t know moose did this in the first place. What do you mean? Just shake your head and your antlers fall off? No need to fight or scratch trees?’ “It’s crazy how many people are uneducated,” she said.

Audiences on Facebook and TikTok were as surprised as Bogert could have imagined.

“What the hell? Do they do that?” said one.

“He was like, ‘OMG! My hat!

“Why was it more dramatic than I expected?” someone asked.

“I didn’t even know this was THING!!!! THIS IS THING!!?!?!” commented a surprised viewer.

“I really didn’t expect it to pop out like the blades of a hand mixer,” said another.

“I don’t know if they had headaches and got relief right away,” added another.

“I didn’t realize they just took them off completely like wigs,” someone joked.

Some joked that a moose left deer antlers as a Christmas present, while Boggart said in a comment that he lives about five hours south of the North Pole.
