Funviralpark BATAVIA — Travel bans in Genesee County and the city of Batavia have been lifted, but officials warn that travel can still be dangerous.
All roads are open, but travel advisories remain in effect in Genesee County.
Genesee County Manager L. Matthew Landers has canceled the state of emergency in Genesee County. All roads are open. The travel ban has been reduced to a travel advisory effective immediately throughout Genesee County.
“A travel advisory means no unnecessary travel is advised,” county officials said in a news release. No travel should be made that can wait until the advisory is lifted.
The parking ban in Batavia City has also been lifted. Meanwhile, the Sunday travel ban remains in effect in Orleans County.
In a Facebook post, the Orleans County Emergency Management Department said, “Right now, about 912 is still out of power.” Give us a job and let the roads open: stay safe, stay warm, and make the right decisions.”
Warming shelters in Orleans County are expected to close by noon because most of the people are from outside the area, the office said. , others used local lodging.
Genesee County has a winter storm warning through 4 a.m. Monday.
Lake-effect snow and blizzards are expected to continue in Genesee and Erie counties, with the most persistent snow expected to add another foot or two. Winds are expected to reach 40 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the Weather Service, the largest additional build-up will span across southern Erie County, including the towns of Eden, Hamburg, Orchard Park, and East Aurora.

Similarly, a winter storm warning is in effect for Wyoming County through 1 a.m. Monday. Approximately 8 to 16 inches of snow is expected, and with key areas in focus including the northwestern part of the county, travel can be very difficult or impossible.
