Police say 2 dead, suspicious device found at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Thornton, Colorado

A man shot and killed his wife on Christmas morning at a Jehovah’s Witness kingdom hall in Thornton, Colorado, before committing suicide, police said.

and news releaseThornton Police have confirmed that two adults found dead at the scene are a married couple who were former members of the Kingdom Hall congregation.

Police said the Adams County medical examiner will confirm the identity of the deceased at a later date.

They also said, “The Adams County Sheriff’s Department’s Hazardous Materials Division is currently investigating a suspicious device found at the scene,” and police are interviewing witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.

According to police, “there are no known threats to the Thornton community.”

A large police and fire brigade presence, including trucks from the Adams County Bomb Squad, was seen at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Thornton on Sunday.

Thornton is about 10 miles north of downtown Denver.
