Hacking a calendar is pretty simple, but it’s a great example of how complex employee lives and situations can still be.
A TikTok account named @travelyourtwenties recently showed people who are into travel how to make the most of their paid vacation.
“This is how we maximize PTO in 2023,” TikToker said at the beginning of a recent video.
Her face was in front of a calendar marked by TikTok’s green screen feature.
“For example, the 19th is a holiday in June. There are two weekends, so if you take the 15th and 16th off, it will be a five-day weekend.
“In just five days, you can go a lot,” she explained.
According to the video, you can get the same long weekend treat on President’s Day in February.
The same is true for Memorial Day. If you take the 25th and his 26th off, you get close to a week of (paid) vacation.
“Another standout month is November,” TikToker spilled.
Combined with the weekend and Thanksgiving holidays, travelers can get “17 consecutive days of vacation just by using 8 days of PTO.”
If you want a longer trip, November is the best time.
Taking advantage of both Sundays from November 12th to 26th, with Thanksgiving Day off on the 23rd and 24th, she gets 17 days off.
PTO days for this lineup are 13th-17th and 20th-22nd.
While the method of choosing calendar days for travel seems simple enough, users in the comments felt that not everyone is so privileged.
As one person commented:
Another confessed, “I have 10 days of PTO, including sick time.”
“I work in the hospitality industry. What is vacation,” wrote another commenter.

Another said: ‘But remember, flight and hotel prices skyrocket during these holidays.
“Choose your vacation *now* and get it at a low price!”
