“I’ve lived here all my life and this is the worst storm I’ve ever seen,” said Lograsso, 48.
President Joe Biden delivered federal aid to New York on Monday, while Gov. Kathy Hochul toured the aftermath in her hometown of Buffalo, calling the blizzard “for years.” Nearly every fire truck in the city was stranded Saturday, she said.
Democrat Ho Chul said the storm came just over a month after the region was hit by another historic snowfall. The total snowfall between the two storms is not far from his 95.4 inches (242 cm) that the region typically sees throughout the winter season.
Snowfall at Buffalo Niagara International Airport was 49.2 inches (1.25 meters) as of 10 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Officials say the airport will be closed until Wednesday morning.
About 2,900 domestic and international flights to the United States were canceled as of about 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday, according to tracking site FlightAware.
