Washington: In Arizona, USA, three Indian Americans, including a woman, were walking on a frozen lake, and a tragic incident occurred when they fell into the ice and drowned.
The incident occurred at 3:35 pm on December 26 at Woods Canyon Lake in Coconino County, Arizona.
“The missing men were found with their bodies and identified as Narayana Mudana, 49, and Gokul Mediseti, 47. The female victim was identified as Harisa Mudana, age unknown. The three victims live in Chandler, Arizona and are from India,” Coconino said. The County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said in a statement Tuesday.
Chandler is a suburb of Phoenix.
Authorities said they were able to pull Harisa out of the water and provide life-saving measures, but they failed and died at the scene.
The crew then began searching for Narayana and Mediceti, who also fell into the lake. The two men were found dead Tuesday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.
All three bodies were recovered.
“Two men and a woman were walking on a frozen lake and were stationed at a substation in the area after tumbling in the ice,” a statement released by CCSO officials said. Lawmakers have been summoned to the lake.” Woods Canyon Lake is located east of Payson in the Apache Sitgreave National Forest. The area is popular with outdoor enthusiasts such as hikers and anglers.
More than one million Americans and Canadians face problems as massive winter storms continue to ravage North America.
Bomb cyclones bring snow, high winds and freezing temperatures as atmospheric pressure drops sharply. Nearly 250 million people have been affected, and at least 19 deaths have been linked to the storm, which stretches more than 3,200 km from Quebec to Texas.
