Indian international cricketer Rishab Punt was hospitalized after sustaining injuries in a car accident in the northern state of Uttarakhand on Friday.

State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dami confirmed the news on Twitter, wishing the 26-year-old Panto a "quick recovery".

CNN affiliate CNN News-18 reported, citing police reports, that Punt's car crashed into a partition early Friday and burst into flames.

The wicketkeeper's batsman is "stable and under scanning", said Indy's Cricket Control Committee (BCCI) chief Jay Shah.

"My thoughts and prayers are with Rishab Pant as he fights his way to recovery," Shah tweeted. "We are closely monitoring his progress and will provide him with all the support he needs."

A BCCI statement said Pant had "two cuts on his forehead, a torn ligament in his right knee, and abrasions on his right wrist, ankle, toe and back."

Panto is one of India's rising stars and was recently appointed a brand ambassador for his home state of Uttarakhand, according to CNN News-18.

Many cricketers took to Twitter to wish him a speedy recovery.

Former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting said he was thinking about the pants. "I hope you recover and get back on track soon," he wrote on Friday.

"Wishing Rishab a speedy and complete recovery! Take care," Indian cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir wrote.

Harsha Bogle, a prominent Indian cricket commentator, said: "We wish him well and wish him a speedy recovery."
