Bloch County, Georgia (WTOC) – As the Thompson family cleans up miles of Christmas displays, they say they appreciate the people who visit all month and the help they give their community all year round. I’m here.

They unplugged the TMT Christmas lights for 2022 on Tuesday night.

They are accepting donations of canned goods that will be donated to the Christian Social Ministry’s Food Pantry.

“The first question I ask each morning is how many barrels of food did I get?

People donated over 95,000 pounds of food this year. After sorting and stacking, volunteers will pack distribution bags from most of the next year.

“It’s our main producer. This is what gets us through the year. We have other food drives, but this one brings over 90% of our inventory,” says John Long of Christian Social Ministries. said.

Each care package weighs about 50 pounds and serves dozens, or even hundreds, of cars per meal, Long says. He appreciates Thompson’s gifts to the community and knows that his recipients are grateful that people are donating to continue the Christmas tradition.

Even while I’m packing, I’m thinking about what I can do next year to do something bigger and different to keep people coming back.
