A woman, believed to be elderly, who was using a walker was hit and killed by a car while crossing the Old York Road around 1:30 am on Friday, Abington Township Police said.
Police were seeking the woman's identity on Saturday and a possible eyewitness to see the fatal crash.Joe Bryce, who was the night supervisor on duty Friday.
Bryce said the woman was crossing Woodland Road heading in the direction of Jefferson Abbington Hospital.
But it's unclear if she was a patient, he added. "If we get in touch with her next of kin, we can shed some light on why she was there at the time."
The car hit the woman at an angle, he said, so the airbags didn't deploy — but police didn't know how fast the car was going, whether the light was green or red, whether the pedestrians Investigating whether she was on the shoulder of a crosswalk when a car hit her. The driver remained at the scene, he said.
"I have a video," said Bryce. "Hospitals have recently changed their policy so they have to get that video through a search warrant. That's what they're waiting for."
