A Queens man was killed in a bizarre incident involving four cars on the Gowanus Highway early Saturday morning, police said.
Ridgewood's Manoj Thapa, 32, was struck just before 1 a.m. Saturday while checking damage to his car at Gowanus near 55th Street in Sunset Park. said the NYPD.
Authorities said the fatal episode unfolded when Tapa stopped the Toyota Camry behind a Nissan Sentra that was stuck in the right lane.
A third driver behind the wheel of a Toyota Venza SUV crashed into a Tapa Camry, an NYPD spokesman said.
Police said the Venza's driver pulled over, got out of the SUV and began investigating the damage with Thapa, who was also out of the vehicle.
That's when tragedy struck and a BMW smashed into Tapa, forcing him into his car, police said.
Thapa was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The 24-year-old driver of the BMW remained in the car, police said. Authorities said he and the driver of the Toyota Venza were taken to a Lutheran hospital, but their injuries are not life-threatening.
