AURORA, Colorado – Multiple vehicle collisions involving a cicada and a passenger vehicle have closed the westbound lane of Interstate 70 on Tower Road, according to the Aurora Police Department. The crash was reported by Aurora Police shortly after 5:30 am on Friday on the eastbound I-70 between East Colfax and Tower Road.

The westbound lane of Interstate 70 is closed in East Colfax, just west of 470, according to Denver 7 traffic expert Jason Louver. Police tweeted that some of the drivers had non-life-threatening injuries. Louvre says drivers in the area should travel from East Colfax to Tower Road and then back onto I-70.

There is no estimated time for the reopening of westbound lanes.
