Plano Police are reminding people to stay vigilant following a series of car break-ins over the holiday weekend.
Plano Police say residents have reported multiple vehicle robberies in an area along Westbound Legacy Drive from Central Highway to Alma Drive.
According to police, common items stolen include cash, designer items, electronics, computers and guns.
Police are asking residents to check their home security or doorbell cameras for videos that could help investigators pinpoint who was responsible for the theft. At the time of this writing, there was no description of the suspect.
Anyone whose vehicle has been broken into is asked to report to police on the non-emergency line of the Plano Police Department at 972-424-5678 to have an officer dispatched to investigate.Reportable online.
Prevention of car break-ins
- Never leave your vehicle with the key in the ignition.
- Lock your doors and keep your windows closed, even if you park in front of your house.
- Park in a busy, well-lit area.
- Keep valuables such as GPS, GPS holders, cell phones, iPads, wallets out of sight.
- Equip your car with alarms and other anti-theft devices.
- Do not leave vehicle ownership or other personal documents in your vehicle.
- Do not leave your firearm in your vehicle.
