Houston’s Super Feast running out of food, asking for donations

With freezing temperatures, power outages and no water for some Houston residents, the City Wide Club is asking for help to do their part for the community.

The organization shared on Saturday that it is running out of food at the 44th Annual Christmas Eve Super Feast in Houston and is in need of food donations at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Families and attendees are said to line up in front of the Toyota Center at the event held.

More than 25,000 homeless and disadvantaged families, seniors and veterans will be served.

On Friday, the City Wide Club said it needed at least 200 more volunteers.

“If you have an hour, please come to GRB Exhibit Hall D. We’ll do the work for you. Whether you want to be in the kitchen or help set up in the actual exhibit hall, we need your help.” City Wide Club Regional Director Stephanie Lewis said.

Lewis said people have the option of walking or driving to enjoy a hot meal on Saturday.

“Children are also given toys. Our goal is to give at least two new toys to the children who attend because for so many people Super Feast is the only one they know. I’m going to be Santa for the next year,” Lewis said.

According to the City Wide Club, volunteers will simply come to George R. Brown’s Exhibit Hall D on Saturday and volunteer.
