Grand Rapids, Michigan — ‘Christmas Meals Without Questions’

That’s what Eric Zane on “The Eric Zane Show” podcast sent people to on Thursday for the third year in a row.

It’s called the “Great Food Giveaway” held at Ervines Auto Repair Grand Rapids Hybrid and EV in Wyoming.

People drive off with all the ingredients for Christmas dinner: potatoes, gravy, rolls, pumpkin pie, holiday ham.

They also handed out meals to furry members of the family in bags of pet food provided by the Grand Rapids Pit Bull Alliance.

“It happened so fast. We drove people in, put food in, and they drove away. And that’s it. It’s pretty fast,” Zane says.

Last year, 100 people grabbed a drive-thru Christmas dinner. This year that number has doubled to his 200 households.

Zane, a podcaster and local radio personality, put together this event with the help of sponsors. Ervine is also sponsored by Meijer.

An event that says Zane is a product of the community. “Penny by penny, penny by penny, basically just give me a hat.”

This year, Jennison Meyer will play a big role in serving meals, and at the end of the day, he says, he’ll be handing over whatever’s left over to the kids’ food basket.

Zane says he’s humbled to see how successful the event has been over the past three years, thanks to the help and support of his audience and sponsors. I’m looking forward to it.

“And so many people were like, ‘Oh, of course you’re doing it again.’ It kind of takes on a life of its own.”
