Philadelphia – The Philadelphia Police Department has launched an investigation after police made a disturbing discovery at a tenement in South Philadelphia.
Law enforcement sources first told FOX 29’s Steve Keely that the body was found in a freezer in a tenement on the 1200 block of Cinder Avenue.
Sources said a large amount of blood was found at the scene.
The body was identified as a man in a basement freezer around 6:28 a.m. Friday, police said.
Medical officials pronounced the man dead at 6:50 pm, officials said.
FOX 29 is located on Cinder Avenue, and homicide detectives and law enforcement personnel quarantined the area to begin an investigation.

Police have not released any further information, but sources said the man was found lying face down with a bag on his back.
Sources said a knife was found at the scene, but police did not say if the man died from the knife.
