Dearborn, Michigan – A man fleeing a traffic stop causes a crash at an intersection Monday morning, killing an innocent driver. Dearbornthe police said.
The accident occurred at approximately 8:40 am on Monday (December 26) at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and South Gully Road. Dearborn Heights national borders.
Officials said Wayne County Sheriff’s Department officials tried to stop a car speeding on Michigan Avenue, but the driver wouldn’t stop.
Dear Police Cpl. The man drove east on Michigan Avenue, entered Dearborn, and collided with another driver at an intersection with Gully Road, Dan Bartok said.
An innocent driver died in the accident, officials said.
Police say the man who caused the accident got out of the car and fled on foot. Bartok said he was eventually taken into custody nearby after a short foot chase.
Authorities took the man to a nearby hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
Neither vehicle had any passengers.
Dear Police are still investigating why the man fled the traffic stop. A K-9 unit followed in the man’s footsteps to ensure he left nothing behind as he fled on foot.
“We are going to do a thorough investigation to resolve this,” Bartok said.
The intersection of Michigan Avenue and South Gully Road has been closed pending an official investigation.
