The biggest problem with today’s trip is the snowstorm, which reduces visibility and makes it difficult to see cars ahead or in any direction. If you have no choice but to travel today, plan plenty of time and extra gear in case trouble strikes.

Midnight temperatures were approaching freezing, but if you dare to go out, it’s already below 10-20 degrees. That wind blows you away a bit, causing dangerous wind chills that feel below freezing and never get better all day.

Accurate snowfall and snowfall will be difficult to determine, but an additional 2-4 inches of fresh snow is likely this morning and into the afternoon. The wind stirs up the snow, so no matter how much snow piles up, it ends up not being very visible on the lawn.

Today’s peak winds will occur later in the morning, especially this afternoon. At that time, there is concern about more dangerous travel due to snowstorms and the possibility of power outages. These winds travel west-southwest at speeds of 25 to 40 miles per hour, sometimes producing gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour that can knock tree branches against power lines.

Temperatures drop into the teens all day, and subzero winds make it feel as cold as -15 degrees Fahrenheit. Snow showers lighten over the afternoon as the center of the storm moves further east.

Now we have to pay attention to the lake effect snow belts and squalls coming from Lake Michigan. A streamer is seen moving, making its movement even more difficult.

Tonight the sun sets at 5:04 pm

The cold can get ferocious and dangerous on Fridays, especially during the hours of Christmas Eve on Saturday and Christmas morning on Sunday. Temperatures will be in the single digits to the low teens in the morning, and Saturday will initially feel like -15 degrees.

Scattered snow showers can again occur from the same lake effect snow belt in this wind event. Parts of the region, especially west of Interstate 275 and north of he M-59, have seen no activity while some snow strips have moved.

Highs can be stuck in your late teens. Its winds beat west-southwest at 20 to 30 mph, sometimes gusting to 35 to 45 mph.
