(NEXSTAR) – The current Mega Millions Jackpot is the fourth largest in the history of the game after another draw failed to produce a grand prize winner.
Friday’s winning numbers – 15, 21, 32, 38, 62 and Mega Ball 8 – are unparalleled, continuing the trend of the 22 draw that began in mid-October. The jackpot is currently at an estimated $785 million, and the cash option he is at $395 million.
That amount is officially recognized as the fourth largest jackpot in Mega Millions history, after three relatively recent jackpots exceeding $1 billion.
The current jackpot has climbed steadily since October, after two ticket holders from California and Florida matched all six numbers to share the $502 million prize. Since then, 41 players have won his second prize worth more than $1 million, although the Mega Millions lottery confirmed in his press release, his six in the draw. No one has been able to match all three numbers.
Friday’s press release also said January could be a lucky month for players, as the game claimed the only $1 billion prize in January 2021.
“With a $1 billion win in January, will history repeat itself?” the press release asked after explaining that the jackpot could easily continue to accumulate throughout the month.
Only three times have Mega Millions prizes exceeded $1 billion. In July 2022 he rose to $1.337 billion. In October 2018, a South Carolina ticket holder won his $1.537 billion jackpot.
The next Mega Millions draw is scheduled for Tuesday, January 3rd.
