MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Memphis, Light Gas and Water has issued a precautionary boiling water advisory due to freezing weather and power outages.
MLGW has experienced multiple water outages and water production issues that have resulted in significant pressure reductions in drinking water systems in southeastern and northern Shelby counties.
As a precautionary measure, MLGW is asking all guests to boil water before drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes or preparing food until further notice. I’m here.
Tap water is safe for bathing and showering, but don’t get it in your mouth.
Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
Bacteria can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches.
