Paul Pelosi’s accused attacker, David DePape, pleaded not guilty to all state charges in court in San Francisco on Wednesday.
Dehap, who also waived his right to a trial within 60 days, is reportedly scheduled to appear in court again on February 23.
A 42-year-old man was arrested on Oct. 28 on suspicion of attacking Paul Pelosi with a hammer inside Pelosi’s San Francisco home. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was in Washington DC at the time.
Local prosecutors have charged Depap with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and elder abuse.

DePape has also pleaded not guilty to state and federal charges, including an allegation of attempted kidnapping of House Speaker Pelosi.

During a court appearance two weeks ago, body-worn camera footage reportedly showed DePappe beating Paul Pelosi.

San Francisco Police Sgt. Carla Hurley, who interviewed DePape for about an hour on the day of the attack, testified that DePape said there was “evil in Washington” and noted that Nancy Pelosi was second only to the president.
DePape also named other future targets, including Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom, actors Tom Hanks, and Hunter Biden, according to Hurley, according to the Associated Press.
