Pele’s mother is unaware that world-famous soccer legend Pele’s son has died, his sister revealed.
Celeste, who has just turned 100, is being cared for by her daughter, Maria Lucia do Nascimento, but has not been informed of her son’s death.
Overnight, it was revealed that Pele’s only surviving brother had yet to tell the patriarch that her famous footballer’s son had lost his battle with colon cancer.
Her home is said to be on the route planned by funeral organizers before the football star was buried in the world’s highest cemetery.

After three days of formal mourning, Pele will be buried in a 14-story cemetery in the center of Santos, where he played most of his club football on Tuesday.
His body will be transported from the hospital where he died to the Vila Belmiro Stadium in Santos, where the public can pay their final respects.
According to local media, he will stay in the center circle around the clock until he makes his way through the streets of his home city and briefly stops outside his bedridden mother’s house.
He is then taken to his final resting place at the Memorial Necropole Ecumenica, recognized by Guinness World Records as the tallest cemetery in the world.
