That would mean the Giants would return to Minneapolis this winter to face the NFC North title-winning Vikings. They’ve faced each other three times in the postseason, the Giants won in his 1993 wild card round, and of course he did in the 2000 NFC Championship Game where he completed a 41-point shutout. I’m here. They just met him eight days ago at US Bank Stadium. Greg Joseph scored his goal on his 61-yard field to beat the Giants 27–24. No team has played as many one-possession games this season as the Giants and Vikings.
A return to the No. 3 seed would add another chapter to the 49ers’ history. The Giants and 49ers split his eight postseason games against each other, facing off four times in the Divisional Rounds and twice in the Wild Card Rounds. More famously, they have also faced each other twice in his NFC Championship Game. The Giants won his second-to-last game en route to Super Bowls XXV and XLVI. Overall, the Giants have beaten the 49ers in the playoffs in three of their four Super Bowl championship runs.
