Current Twitter CEO Elon Musk has declared that Twitter encourages “reasonable” skepticism about scientific data.
“Twitter’s new policy is to follow science, and this inevitably involves reasonable questioning of science,” Musk wrote.
Many Twitter users have gathered to suggest that the policy encourages the real pursuit of scientific truth.
Evolutionary behavioral scientist Gad Saad appeared to be sarcastically joking about the dogmatic treatment of scientific experts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“People who say that questioning them is questioning science itself is not considered a scientist,” Musk said.
Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, tweeted, “Bad news for transgender extremists, COVID-19 totalitarians and climate change alarmists.”
Journalist David Martosco called on his followers to recognize that Musk’s announcement means a lot.
“Isn’t it surprising that this is a departure from what we’ve seen for years?” he asked. “We hope that it means that it is acceptable to examine who is funding science and what restrictions they impose on scientists.”
Eric Weinstein, a mathematical physicist, economist, and managing director of Thiel Capital, expressed hope that this shift could lead to big changes in many areas.

Elon’s post seemed like a veiled criticism of dogmatism, especially against Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

That same day, Musk announced that Twitter platform staff previously “had an internal Slack channel ironically called ‘Fauci Fan Club.'” platform.
Musk also tweeted a statement questioning Fauci’s institutional accountability.
“Few people seem to realize that the NIH’s chief of bioethics, who is supposed to ensure that Fauci behaves ethically, is his wife,” Musk wrote.
Earlier in December, Musk reportedly joked, “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci.”
