Funviralpark Head coach Salina Wiegman has confirmed England will compete in business class at next year’s World Cup, following controversy over Lioness traveling in cheap seats for the 2020 SheBelieves Cup in the United States. .
Wiegman said the team will be booked on the most comfortable flights possible for a two-day voyage to Australia and New Zealand next summer.
The decision comes after the England women’s team traveled to the SheBelieves Cup in the USA two years ago in premium economy.
Phil Neville, the Lioness’ coach at the time, said premium economy was the only option available to allow the team to move together due to the delayed fixture schedule. The team could have taken two separate flights in business class, but Neville was concerned about the potential disruption caused by splitting the team, which the Lioness said would be his 2018 flight. It was two years after he flew financially to the SheBelieves Cup in the United States in 2007.
After the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award ceremony, Wiegman said there would be no such controversy next year.
“Yes, I fly business class. “I really want to recover quickly and have to perform well, so I try to travel in the most comfortable environment.”
The Lioness will be based near Gosford in South East Australia for the tournament, which starts on July 20th next year. His three group games for England are in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, so he’ll need to fly to his last two.
“Traveling in business class makes a huge difference because you can sleep, you can rest, you can just lie down,” says Wiegman.
She said the camp wasn’t “totally complacent” after last summer’s historic Euro win at Wembley.[There is] There is so much enthusiasm, but we need to improve our game. Because it is very fast and there are so many very good countries competing in the World Cup. ”
