For the past decade, Mindy Mahaney and her family have loved traveling to celebrate the holidays.
“On every trip, we go somewhere warm and somewhere cold,” Mahaney said.
This year they are going to Hawaii for a little fun in the sun, and Mindy said she can’t wait to see them all together.
“The younger generation looks forward to it because it combines not only being with your family but also keeping it fun, exciting and going to different places.With all seven grandchildren. It’s especially exciting for my mom because she can be in, Mahaney said.
Mindy said they always plan ahead with the help of travel agent Diane Henderson, as they travel in large groups.
Diane said she gets a lot of last-minute requests for vacation trips.
“December is very cold, so they always want to go somewhere warm. They want to spend family time together. It’s a great gift because it gives them memories and experiences,” Henderson said. said.
As COVID-19 restrictions change and more travelers arrive, Diane sees more people booking trips on their to-do lists, including Egypt, Antarctica, Morocco and Japan. .
“We get a lot of requests from the Caribbean, Mexico and Hawaii,” Henderson said.
Diane said a good way for families to save money on travel is to book a cruise.
Mindy says planning the trip about a year in advance has saved him money.
This year’s trip is especially special as it will be the first trip without her recently deceased father.
“What we have is truly a blessing and it’s going to be a big thing especially this year when we all get together,” Mahaney said.
