Travel often comes with a set of expectations. Maybe you’ve visited a lesser-known destination that has turned it into a total hidden gem. Or, on the other end of the spectrum, perhaps a place has become too much hype in your head and not enough reality in reality. I’ve compiled a list of destinations that go against the. Good or bad.

“French Basque country. San Sebastian is a nice town that we often hear about, but the French Basque country is really nice too. It’s a 30 minute drive from San Sebastian along the Atlantic coast and you need a passport to visit.” Saint Jean de Luz and Biarritz are two beautiful towns, and Bayonne is worth a visit for its excellent Basque cuisine.The countryside is stunning with its quaint villages and rolling hills.This part of the country is , going to show that there are more ways to visit in France…and not just Paris.”

“Tallinn, Estonia. I didn’t expect much when I visited. In fact, I was traveling from Helsinki to London, so I almost did, but it was a off the beaten path destination for a day trip.” But wow, Tallinn was beautiful and the people were so friendly! I hope to come back soon for a proper vacation.”

“Venice. It may sound like blasphemy to some, but I found it stinky, dirty and unnecessarily expensive. Boring within 6 hours and 3 to fill It’s been a long day, and I’ve decided to leave the city and explore, rather than spend time in Venice, enjoying the surrounding beautiful city and countryside.”

“Southern Chile. From Valdivia to Punta Arenas, the whole of Southern Chile feels like a magical forest in a fantasy novel or video game. According to IMO, Chile is probably the most underrated country on the planet. It’s a destination, home to all kinds of landscapes you might want to visit.”

“Krakow, Poland is a wonderful city that is often overlooked. Unlike Warsaw, Krakow was not ravaged by WWII and the Soviets did not rebuild anything, so it still boasts the architecture of the old city. It’s really very beautiful.Highly recommend to see the city center at night.”

“Washington’s Olympic National Park. Arguably one of the most underrated national parks in the United States. A literal rainforest of the Pacific Northwest, boasting amazing hikes, lodges, lakes, and more. Really It’s a one-of-a-kind park. America’s friendly environment.”

“Taipei, Taiwan. By far my favorite city in Asia. It’s a great mix of traditional Chinese, Japanese and American influences. Great food, including a street food scene at the night market.” Yes.Modern enough.Convenient but not as expensive as other Asian cities.Large enough with lots to do but small enough to be manageable and not overwhelming for tourists.People is very friendly, open and helpful.”

“Slovenia. I went on the recommendation of an old roommate and was blown away. This country has a lot of really great scenery. If you love the outdoors and road trips, it’s a great holiday destination. I’ll definitely be back one day.” .”

“Goa, India: People advertise Goa as a legendary beach destination but it really wasn’t that great. The beach itself was substandard, it was very busy, the water It can get polluted and not really a relaxing beach destination, as you might expect.”

“The southwestern coast of the Dominican Republic. The DR is a major tourist hub around Punta Cana and Santo Domingo, but beyond these concentrations there are hidden gems.The southwestern coast from Barahona to Enriquillo is the Caribbean It boasts some of the most beautiful drives, small seaside towns, rivers, mountains and coffee plantations, and is also one of the cheapest areas in the country, where you can easily find accommodations for under $20 a night. .”

“Uganda. I visited and had a lot of fun. Tourism infrastructure is not good and can be a little pricey so budget accordingly. “Lima. I hear a lot of people say they skip Lima or just spend a day there. But the historic downtown is gorgeous and it’s on the coast with lots of beaches. Plus the food and people are great, we spent 4 days there and still wanted to go, we had more time.”

“Iceland. Despite its growing popularity and increasing number of tourists, I think it is still underestimated. No. I’ve visited twice and already want to go back for a third time. Time.”

“Algeria. Morocco is touristy and annoying and I thought it was really worth a visit, but Algeria was underrated. It has amazing archaeological sites, few to no tourists, amazing architecture I had the opportunity to explore things, amazing people, and the Sahara, plus it’s cheap to visit.”

“Fukuoka, Japan. Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka may be the main Japanese cities visited by tourists, but the south of Japan was a different experience. It’s laid back.Fukuoka feels very refreshing.There are few tourists and people who are very friendly to foreigners.The weather in the south is wonderful, not to mention the summer months.

“Faroe Islands. This archipelago between Iceland and Norway was amazing. I was overwhelmed by the picturesque villages, the impressive nature and the ease of access to the area. My girlfriend and I didn’t meet anyone else during the hike, and that was the icing on the cake. I would like to see the more northern islands such as Kalsoy and Fugloy.”

Madeira, Portugal. I always thought this was an old man’s destination.I went a few years ago because there were ridiculously cheap flights from Scotland.It was a great 10 days. I loved walking through the wide variety of stunning landscapes: coastal, hillsides, deep valleys, trails that seemed to go through and above the clouds. What a wonderful island! “
