What about passengers?

Horizons’ research also looked at the steps travelers are taking to save money when it comes to future travel plans. For example, 36% of the respondents said they would choose destinations that allow them to make more use of their currency on future international trips. This was a particularly popular answer among US participants, with 57% saying this was the case.

Although not all 11,000 participants answered these follow-up questions, the 6,408 who participated painted an interesting picture of future passenger travel and consumption habits. Cutting down on hotel spending also ranked high, with 32% of respondents suggesting this as part of their budget travel plans.

The same percentage also indicated that they wanted to spend less money when they reached their destination. An example of this is choosing self-catering accommodation instead of eating out every day. In this regard, the United States was once again the largest source of yes answers, with 51% saying so. In contrast, Italy’s figure was just 20%.

Spending Will Rise Despite Current Challenges
