BAY CITY, Mich. (WNEM) – Anna Matthews was supposed to spend Christmas with her family in Detroit, but instead spent it with two strangers at her house.
“I just chose to let them in. Stay with me. I put it in the hands of Jesus and God and felt it for them,” Matthews said.
This is all because the three were stranded at the Bay City Bus Station on Washington Street after Indian Trails, the bus company, canceled their trip. Matthews says she and four riders were waiting in the freezing cold for the bus to come.
“We were waiting, and suddenly the bus passed one o’clock, and we thought the bus was late. So we got to the point where we thought something was going on,” he said. Matthews said.
She said that after some time her sister-in-law was able to get in touch with someone on the Indian Trail.
“They told my sister-in-law in Detroit that they canceled the trip yesterday and they don’t know why they canceled it because the two people sitting with me bought tickets last night.” said Matthews.
Indian Trails did not respond to a request for comment. According to their website, there was a service disruption due to weather, but it’s unclear if the route from Bay City to Detroit was affected.
