CHARLOTTEVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – If you’re stuck at an airport with a canceled flight, AAA’s Morgan Dean says you need to make sure all expenses are tracked.
“I know Southwest Airlines told passengers in some tweets and other reports I saw to keep receipts. I don’t know if you’re one of the affected travelers, but if you’re one of the affected travelers, I’ll keep all your current payment receipts,” Dean said.
Downloading the airline’s app is also helpful, according to Peace Frogs, a travel agency in Charlottesville.
“I download an app on my phone so that I can contact the airline if my schedule changes in the middle of the night or very early in the morning, not just when I arrive at the airport, so I can hop on another flight. ”said Julie Arbelaez, owner of Peace Frogs.
It is also important to provide as much information as possible on the luggage tag in case the luggage is lost.
“Not just your name and phone number, but your personal address and email address. The more information you can provide, the better,” Arbelaez said.
Dean says to consider all options, including renting a car if possible, if you’re likely to be stuck at the airport for a while.
